このたび、「island」にて『NEW WORLD』展を企画しました。
「island」は公の場です。表現の力を生み、伝え、広めて行く拠点として、表現者と共に時代と柔軟に呼応しながら、事象を、メディアを、パワーをつくっていきたいと考えています。その目的は、表現を社会に伝える事、新しい世界へ時代を押し進めること。表現は世界をかえるものだと思います。「island」ではその扉を開く鍵を皆さんとつくっていきたいと思っています。 だからこそ『NEW WORLD』を最初の企画として催します。
アートは新しい世界を想像し繋ぐ橋であってほしい。作品は作家一人のためではなく、みんなのため、世界のため、未来のためにその柱を築くもの。そういう意気に富んだ作品をみせられたら、表現の面白さを伝えられたら、そう考えています。 2000年代、今、私たちはNEW WORLDを意識し、それに向け何が必要で何を伝えていくのかを考え、その意志を繋いでいく役割を担っていると思います。そしてオープンスペース「island」が生まれました。その原動力、資本は絆です。宜しくお願い致します。ともに始めていきましょう。

We are pleased to announce that we, island, organized the exhibition NEW WORLD. Island is a public space. As a space to create, to deliver, and to spread power of expression, we would like to create a phenomenon, media, and power, with artists, responding flexibly to the current situation. Our aim is to let the society know what is expression, and to lead the world to the new era. I think expression changes the world. In island, we would like to make a key to open the door with you all. That’s why we organized NEW WORLD as the first exhibition in island.
I want Art to be a bridge that lets us imagine and connects us to the new world. Artwork doesn’t exist only for the artist who created it, but for everyone. It becomes a pillar for the world and the future. It would be great if we could show you those ambitious works and how interesting they are.
Today, in 2000s, we all aware of NEW WORLD, and assume a role that is required to keep on considering what is worth conveying. An open-space island plays this role, too. Our motivation and main resource is relationship. We appreciate your continued support. Let’s start together!
